Today’s quick blog post is all about this lovely crate stand I made to display my flower collection.
I love flowers and have bought several bouquets over the years. I know that many people are not fans of artificial flowers, but I like them because I don’t have to worry about keeping them watered and alive. I also like the fact that the quality of faux flowers has improved so much over the years. Many artificial flowers now look like the real thing.
Here is a small sample of my collection.
I usually keep the flowers stored in my closet, but I wanted to create a project that would be the perfect way to show them off in photographs.
Supplies:
(6) Wood Crates 12.25 in. x 9.5 in. x 18 in.
(2) Wood Poplar Boards 0.75 in. x 1.5 in. x R/L
(1) Wood Board 1/4 in. x 6 in. x 3 ft.
White Acrylic Paint
Paint Brush
Hammer
Nails
Instructions:
I painted the crates and the wood board with the acrylic paint. I only used one coat of paint for each item because I was trying to create a whitewashed look.
After the painted crates and board dried, I then used the hammer and nails to assemble the pieces.
First, I nailed all six crates together. Then I nailed the longer boards to the sides of the crates (one board on each side).
Finally, I nailed the flat wood board to the top of the two longer boards.
I enjoyed adding all of the flowers to the crates. I’m in the process of decorating my home for Spring, and these flowers really brightened up my room.
