Shopping at second-hand stores is one of my favorite hobbies. It is interesting what you can find on the shelves of a local thrift shop. As the saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
I mainly shop at thrift stores to find inexpensive pieces of furniture and home decor. People throw and give away lots of beautiful items that just need a little cleaning and paint to make them look new again. It’s so fun and satisfying to customize an old product and turn it into something that fits my home and personal style. I also like the fact that a lot of thrift stores are a part of or donate money to local charities, so a portion of the proceeds will help out my community and different causes.
For today’s blog post I am sharing a collection of my favorite thrift store crafts. Continue reading below and click the photos to learn how I turned trash into treasure.
Enjoy!
- An old spice rack is now storage for my son’s toy cars.
- This bow tie pillow was made out of fabric I bought at a Goodwill store.
- A little bit of white chalk paint gave this magazine rack a fresh look.
And here is an old radio box that I turned into a small dollhouse:
All I did was add some decorative cardstock, stickers, and dollhouse furniture. Isn’t it just the cutest thing! I’m an adult, but I’m having too much fun playing with the tiny furniture.
Well, that’s it! I hope you all enjoyed reading about my thrift store projects. This post is all about sparking your imagination and creativity. Maybe one day you will feel inspired to give that outdated and unsightly item in your home a fresh, new look.
I love the tray! What a great idea, thanks!
Thank you!
