DIY Pom Pom Rug

I buy yarn whenever I see it on clearance at craft stores. Over the past few months, I have accumulated several pounds of yarn. I don’t knit, so I decided to make a pom pom rug. This is a fun and easy project, but it can take a few hours to make the pom poms. The results are well worth the time spent.

Items I used:

  • Non-slip rug pad (18 in. x 28 in.)
  • Yarn (various colors)
  •  Clover Pom-Pom Maker
  • Scissors

I bought two pom pom makers from Amazon for about $7. The purchase was well worth it because it made making the pom poms so much easier. Also, if you don’t have a pom pom maker, you can find several tutorials online on how to make pom poms using cardboard, a fork, or just your bare hands.

As I mentioned earlier, making the pom poms was the most time-consuming part of this project. I had to make about 125 pom poms in order to cover the rug pad

I tied each pom pom about an inch apart until the entire rug was covered.
