Why not give old products a makeover instead of throwing them away? I know that many of us have closets and storage units filled with objects that can be reused or repurposed.
I am sharing some fun projects for today’s blog post where I gave a makeover to some items I bought at a thrift store. It’s amazing what you can do with a bit of paint and a lot of creativity!
I had no clue what this thing was when I bought it. I couldn’t pass it up because it was so unique and didn’t cost a lot of money. I spent a couple of days thinking of different ideas for a project. I finally decided to turn it into a plant stand.

Supplies I Used:
white spray paint
jute twine
mini succulent pots
mini clothespins
First, I cleaned the stand with a damp rag.
Next, I painted the stand. It needed about 2-3 coats of white spray paint. After the paint dried, I then tied the twine across the top of the stand.

Finally, I added the succulents and pinned some notes to the string.

This next project is a repurposed VHS storage box. I haven’t seen a storage box like this in years.
Supplies I used:
pink and white spray paints
Mod Podge (matte)
decorative map paper
foam brush
scissors
First, I wiped the storage box with a damp rag. It was very dusty in some areas.

Next, I painted the box with the white spray paint and the drawers with the pink paint.

Once the paint dried, I cut some decorative paper and then glued it to the box using a foam brush and Mod Podge.
The storage box was ready to use once the glue dried.

I enjoy shopping at thrift stores because I can find so many inexpensive decorations for my home. Most of the items need a little bit of cleaning and some tweaking to make them functional again.
