I’m so happy that it’s summertime! My schedule is not as hectic, and I have more opportunities to work on craft and DIY projects. I also have more time to clean, repair, and declutter my home.

My husband recently replaced our old mailbox, and I didn’t want to throw it away, so I decided to give the mailbox a colorful makeover and use it as storage.

One of my favorite hobbies is finding new ways to reuse old items. I hate throwing things away without seeing if I can either donate it or repurpose it.

Supplies:

• Mailbox
• Krylon ColorMaster Spray Paint (Matte Aqua)
• Banner Flag Paper Punch
• Decorative Map Paper
• Gold-colored Ribbon
• Paper Bow
• Hot Glue Gun
• White Chalk Paint
• Stencil
• Paint Brush

Instructions:

• I began by cleaning the mailbox. A quick rinse with soap and water removed the dirt and grime.
• Next, I spray painted the mailbox. I had to use about 2-3 coats to cover the inside and outside of the mailbox.

• Then I used a stencil and painted words on the side of the mailbox with white chalk paint.

• Just for fun, I made two small paper banners to hang on each side of the box.

To make the banners, I used one of my punches to cut pennant flags out of decorative map paper.

Then I used a glue gun to adhere the ribbon behind each flag.

Finally, I hot glued the banners on the mailbox and added a decorative bow to the flag.

Isn’t this a lovely makeover? I can’t wait to start storing my craft supplies inside of the mailbox!
