I found these two glass mugs for $1 each at Dollar Tree:

The mugs were inexpensive, but they were heavy. They were not made of thin glass that would break just by touching them.

The craftster (Is that a real word???) in me could not leave the mugs bare, so I decided to paint them. There are dozens of tutorials online similar to this that used Sharpie markers and pens. I didn’t have any Sharpie colors that I liked, so I used a Craft Smart Paint Pen (Gold).

One of the things I liked most about this craft project was that it was simple to complete. All I did was paint dots on the mugs, then I painted both handles.

The paint pen was awesome because the paint dried quickly and did not run down the glass. Also, the instructions on the back of the pen said that the paint is non-toxic and water-resistant.

For the last steps, I turned the oven on to 350°F, put the mugs on an aluminum foil-lined cookie sheet, and baked them in the oven for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, I turned off the oven and let the mugs sit inside for a couple of hours.

I will admit that I was so afraid that the mugs would get too hot and shatter inside the oven, but they didn’t, and I am so happy with the way they turned out.

FYI: To clean the mugs, I hand washed them with mild detergent and lukewarm water. I dried them with a cotton dish towel, and the paint did not come off.
