Christmas

A Wonderful Creations Christmas

Christmas time is here! I used to stress myself out during the holidays. All of the shopping for perfect gifts and traveling to see family really took a toll on me. As I got older and became a parent, the holidays became more about doing fun things for my son instead of the usual hysteria. This year, I am spending the holidays at home, which has put me in a very merry mood. I decided to do a little bit of Christmas decorating.

I was adamant about not spending a lot of money this year on decorations. All of those ornaments, trees, and lights can get really expensive. To save some money, I bought a small amount of discounted decorations, and I also decorated with items that I already own.

I kept the decorations light and simple. I live in a smaller home, so I didn’t want to overdecorate and make my living room look cluttered.

Here are the links to most of the decor you see in the photos:

4′ White Tree (Big Lots)

Nutcrackers (Big Lots)

Gold and Silver Ornaments (Big Lots)

White Stockings (At Home Store)

Paper Houses (DCWV – sold out)

Brush Trees (JOANN – sold out)

*Some of the decorations on the mantel are either old or sold out, so I no longer have the information on where to purchase.

I believe that this dollhouse is the best thing out of all my decorations. The house was a gift I received a long time ago. It looked completely different than what it looks now. I plan on doing a blog post on how I painted the house and gave it a makeover.

Here’s a closer look at my Christmas village. These items are currently out of stock, but you can purchase other sets on the DCWV website.

  1. with the ease of spray paints, I often feel they give a touch of glamour. Of course you probably didn’t do that but just “saying” …. a multitude of oddments/ornaments that somehow have lost their glitter or “look” take on a new lease of life. I don’t do decorating as I never celebrate at home but if I did, I possibly would collect as you have “discounted items” – one of my blog friends needed to add an underlayer to her collection, something that represented snow – she found an old chenille bedspread and cut it and then kind of folded it to represent that layer…it was hard to tell what exactly her “snow was” as the village just moved over it…
