Happy Friday! Today’s blog post is nature inspired and involves the lovely color green. So scroll down and enjoy reading about all the earthy crafts I made for this week.

DIY Glass Jar Terrarium

I made this terrarium using a pair of pickle jars that I recycled.

Supplies:

  • Glass Jars
  • Succulent Plants
  • Potting Soil
  • Dry Moss
  • Horticultural Charcoal
  • Spray Bottle filled with Water
  • Rocks

Instructions:

  • Place a layer of rocks a the bottom of the jar, and then pour in the charcoal for drainage.

  • Next, put about 1/2 inch of moss over the charcoal and rocks to prevent soil from seeping into the bottom layer.

  • Now add about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch layer of moist potting soil.
  • Use a large spoon to scoop out holes for the plants. Larger or taller plants should be placed in the back, while lower plants should be put in front (if you have room).
  • Make sure to pack the soil firmly around the base of the plants.

  • Finally, add some more moss or small decorative items (rocks, shells, etc.) that won’t harm the plants.

The best thing about these terrariums and plants is that they don’t need heavy or daily watering. All I have to do is spray them with my water bottle 1-2 times a week.

The next two projects are ideas I came up with one afternoon. I bought some paper succulents at a craft store, and I decided to use them on a wreath and a wooden heart frame I bought earlier this year.

  1. Once again. Wonderful creatiions. I absolutely love that coffee mug creation. It is a great idea for someone wanting to add some organic life to their kitchen with little care involved.
