Straw Hat Wreath

Today I am sharing a way to turn your old straw hat into beautiful decor for your wall or door.

Follow the easy instructions below.

Supplies:

  • Straw Hat
  • Faux Flowers
  • Ribbon (2 yards)
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Floral Wire Cutter
  • Scissors
  • Poly Fiberfill

I bought this hat years ago for a vacation I went on with my family. I think I may have worn it three or four times in the past five years. So instead of throwing the hat away, I decided I would turn it into an awesome repurposed project.

The first thing I did was stuff the inside of the hat with fiberfill. The filling helps the hat opening keep its shape.

Next, I cut about one yard of ribbon and glued it around the head  of the hat.

I used the floral wire cutter to cut the faux flowers from the stems, and then I glued the flowers on the brim.

Finally, I cut some more of the ribbon to make a bow for the hat.

This was such a fun and simple project to do in under an hour, and the bright colors are  perfect for Summer.

Thanks for reading, and have a great day!

  1. Lovely, very airy and pretty. I used to make these in the early 90’s had a blast, and sold a ton of them. Nice to see them making a comeback
