Turn a Gumball Machine into Christmas Decor

It’s officially Christmas season at my house. I’ve begun the process of transitioning all my Fall/Thanksgiving decorations into Christmas decor. This year, my decorations are gold colored. So be on the lookout in the next few weeks for several sparkly projects.

The first project I want to show is this gumball machine I painted and decorated for Christmas.

I’m happy with how this gumball machine turned out and how beautiful it looks next to my other decorations. The best part is that I can add new and different items inside the machine throughout the year.

This project is easy and fun to make. All I needed was a few supplies and a lot of imagination.

Follow the easy instructions below for holiday inspiration.

Supplies:

  • Gumball Machine
  • Glittered Pine Cones
  • Polyester Fiberfill
  • Gold Spray Paint

Instructions:

  • First, I disassembled the gumball machine. It is made out of plastic, so it was very easy to take the pieces apart and then reassemble them.

  • Next, I sprayed the base and lid parts gold. This spray paint made by Krylon is excellent because it’s easy to apply and dries quickly.

  • I let the paint completely dry for about an hour, reassembled the gumball machine, and then I placed some fiberfill inside of it. I had a lot of fiberfill leftover from a previous project, and I thought it would look like snow inside of the gumball machine.

  • I placed glittered pine cones on top of the fiberfill and finally screwed the lid back on. (I bought the pine cones at a dollar store.)

And that’s it! I had a lot of fun with this project, and I look forward to sharing more holiday crafts with you all. Please feel free to tell me what you think in the comments section below.

Have a great day!
