Repurposed Shutters + Wood Crate and Flowers

I enjoy finding new ways to reuse old items. I hate throwing things away without figuring out how I can either fix it, donate it or recycle it. While browsing on Pinterest, I found lots of ideas for repurposing household objects. I decided to use some of these techniques on a shutter that I never got the opportunity to put on my house.

As you can see, I turned the shutter into a flower holder. I had a lot of fun creating this project because it got my creative juices flowing. I faced some challenges on what color to paint it, and the best way to hang the crate on the shutter, but I love the way everything turned out. What I like most about a repurposed project is that it’s all about personal style and preference. All you need are a few supplies and a lot of imagination, and you can create unique pieces for your home.

Supplies:

Chalked Spray Paint (White)
Mason Jars
Artificial Flowers
Vinyl Exterior Shutter (13.75 in. x 34.75 in.)
Wood Crate (16 in. x 4.75 in. x 8.875 in.)
1 in. Wood Screws

Spray paint the shutter and crate. This spray paint is excellent because it is easy to apply, dries very quickly, and you don’t have to do any prep before you paint.

Place the crate in the middle of the shutter.
Drill screws into the crate to attach it to the shutter.

Put the flowers inside the mason jars, and place them inside the crate.
The shutter and flowers are now ready to display. Make sure to securely hang the shutter on your wall or door with a nail or wall hook.
Also, make sure to use a waterproof paint sealer if you decide to hang the shutter outside.
